Careers Guidance and Aspirations
At Holy Cross Catholic High School, we are committed to ensuring that every pupil leaves us with not only excellent qualifications, but also the knowledge, skills, confidence and ambition to succeed in an ever-changing world. Aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks, our comprehensive careers programme enables pupils to identify their strengths, raise aspirations and make informed decisions about their future.
From Year 7 onwards, pupils benefit from a structured programme of careers education, employer encounters, workplace experiences and personalised guidance. Through partnerships with employers, universities, colleges and apprenticeship providers, pupils gain valuable insight into career pathways, labour market opportunities and post-16 options, while developing essential employability skills, including communication, teamwork, leadership, resilience and professionalism.
A key feature of our provision is the annual Holy Cross Careers Fair, where pupils engage directly with employers, training providers and former Holy Cross pupils who return as alumni to share their experiences and inspire future generations.
As pupils progress through Key Stage 4, they receive tailored support to explore sixth form, further education, apprenticeships, technical qualifications and employment with training. Every pupil benefits from impartial one-to-one guidance from a Level 6 qualified Careers Adviser, alongside interview preparation and application support, ensuring that they are fully prepared for their next steps.

Careers Lead – Mrs C Love
Mrs Love has been at Holy Cross since 2018 and worked in the Careers team since 2020. Mrs Love’s role includes organising events such as the Careers Fair and College sample days as well as inviting guest speakers to inspire our pupils by talking about their own career journeys.
Mrs Love works closely with Mrs Hitchen (Assistant Headteacher responsible for Careers and Personal Development), Heads of Year, Heads of Department and our SEND team to ensure that all of our pupils have access to a thorough, well-rounded careers programme.
Mrs Love has completed her Level 6 Careers Leadership training and is a Level 6 qualified Careers Advisor. She is passionate about ensuring that all of our pupils leave Holy Cross confident and well prepared for their future.
