Senior Prefects

Welcome from the Head Girl, Ruby

My time at Holy Cross has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It has shaped me in many ways, helping me grow in resilience and compassion, and teaching me the importance of kindness, leadership, and serving others, values I would be proud to uphold as Head Girl.

One of the main reasons I wanted to become Head Girl is to give back to the school community that has given so much to me. Throughout my time at Holy Cross, I have tried to lead by example, encourage others, and get involved wherever I can. I believe leadership means being approachable and being the person who listens to everyone.

Holy Cross has provided me with many chances to grow personally and academically. Being part of the Leadership Academy let me visit London and the Houses of Parliament, where I learned more about leadership, responsibility, and the impact positive role models can have in a community. These experiences inspired me to develop my leadership skills and reinforced my desire to make a positive difference at school.

I have also taken part in many activities outside the classroom. I represented Holy Cross in district sports, played on the school netball team, and joined maths competitions. These experiences taught me the value of commitment and teamwork. As a Sports Leader, I dedicated over 40 hours to volunteering, supporting primary students and sporting events.

My faith has always been an important part of my life, and Holy Cross has helped me strengthen it through service. I had the privilege of reading at The Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, a moment that built my confidence and reminded me of the importance of representing our school with respect and pride. Outside of school, I regularly volunteer as a Eucharistic Minister at my local church, where I have learnt the value of humility, compassion, and serving my community. I believe these experiences reflect our mission statement: “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.”

The school trips I have joined have also had a lasting impact on me. Visiting Kraków and Auschwitz gave me a deeper understanding of history, human resilience, and the importance of remembering the past. The battlefields of France and Belgium allowed me to reflect on the sacrifices made by previous generations. Other educational trips have broadened my understanding of different cultures, perspectives, and the wider world. Each experience encouraged me to become more open-minded, thoughtful, and appreciative of the opportunities I have.

Being Head Girl is more than a badge or title; it is a responsibility I will embrace with pride. I will lead with integrity, kindness, and dedication. I want to be someone younger students can look up to and a reliable support for my peers. Whether through supporting school events, listening to others, or representing Holy Cross in the wider community, I will strive to be a positive ambassador for our school.

I am truly honoured to be part of the Holy Cross family. The experiences, opportunities, and friendships I have gained here have shaped who I am today, and I would be proud to give back by serving as Head Girl. I hope to continue representing Holy Cross with enthusiasm, compassion, and commitment, inspiring others just as so many staff and students have inspired me.

Welcome from the Head Boy, Benedict

If someone had told me when I was still at St Chad’s Primary School, or when I first started at Holy Cross, that I would one day become Head Boy, I would never have believed them. Being given this opportunity is something I never expected, and I feel incredibly honoured and grateful to represent the school in my final year. Looking back on my time at Holy Cross, I realise just how much the school has helped me grow academically, personally and in my faith. The support and encouragement I have received from staff and fellow students have shaped me into the person I am today, and I am proud to have the opportunity to give something back to a community that has given me so much.

One of my greatest achievements outside of school has been competing as a North West triathlete on the England Talent Pathway. I currently rank 35th in the country while competing as one of the younger athletes in my age group. Balancing training, competitions and school has taught me the importance of resilience, commitment and hard work. These experiences have shown me that success comes through determination and perseverance, qualities that I hope to bring to my role as Head Boy and encourage in others.

As a Catholic school, I believe our mission statement, John 10:10: “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full”, should be at the centre of everything we do. To me, this means making the most of every opportunity we are given, treating others with kindness and respect, and always striving to be the best version of ourselves. At Holy Cross, we live that out by ensuring we Love God, Work Hard and Be Kind. Throughout my time as Head Boy, I want every student to feel supported, included and encouraged to achieve their full potential.

One area I am particularly passionate about is sport. I hope to create even more opportunities for students to get involved by introducing additional sporting events throughout the year, such as annual football matches on the astro between different year groups, while also supporting the fantastic sporting competitions and events already taking place. Sport has taught me valuable life lessons and brought people together, and I hope to help create an environment where every student feels encouraged to participate, represent the school and enjoy being part of our community.

I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to working alongside the staff, prefect team and students to make a positive difference. I hope to lead by example, live out our school values every day and represent Holy Cross with pride. Above all, I want to help ensure that every student has the opportunity to experience school life to the full and leaves Holy Cross with memories and opportunities that will stay with them for years to come.
