The Holy Cross Senior Pupil Team for 2025/26

All our senior pupils are very active around school and provide outstanding role models for our younger pupils.  They attend official functions, welcome visitors to our school and the team also leads Student Voice by chairing the Student Council and feeding back to Senior Leadership.  It is their primary role to represent Holy Cross on behalf of all pupils and to recommend any changes within school for the benefit of all of our pupils.

Head Girl – Maebh Harling

My time at Holy Cross has been truly transformative.  It has shaped me not only academically but personally, helping me grow in confidence, develop new strengths, and understand the importance of kindness, teamwork, and community.

One of the reasons I wanted to become Head Girl was to inspire and support that same growth in others.  I know how powerful it is to feel seen and encouraged, and I strive to be someone my peers can look up to – not because I stand above them, but because I genuinely care.  I want to be a steady and supportive presence, someone who uplifts others and leads with empathy.

Throughout my time at Holy Cross, I have been fortunate to take part in a wide range of opportunities that have helped me build essential skills.  Playing a lead role in our school production, We Will Rock You challenged me creatively and boosted my confidence in front of others.  Singing and reading in church helped me develop a calm and respectful presence in formal settings.  Being part of the school choir, as well as participating in competitions such as rounders and maths challenges, taught me the value of teamwork, perseverance, and determination.

I have also really enjoyed helping at school open evenings and other events, where I have had the chance to welcome new families into our community and share the pride I feel in being part of Holy Cross.  Educational visits – whether exploring French culture, visiting the battlefields of France and Belgium, or attending a retreat with the RE department – have deepened my understanding of the world and helped me grow in empathy and appreciation for others’ experiences.

Being Head Girl is an honour I do not take lightly.  To me, it’s more than just a title – it is a responsibility.  I aim to lead not only through words but through actions, by being approachable, dependable, and thoughtful.  Above all, I hope to be someone others feel they can turn to, whether they need support, encouragement, or simply a listening ear.

I am incredibly proud to represent such a nurturing and inspiring school, and I hope to continue giving back to the community that has given so much to me.

Head Boy – Joseph Scott

Though it has gone by so fast, I am grateful for my time at Holy Cross.  I have many great memories and hope that I can make many more as I enter my final year.  I will be forever thankful for the role the school has played in my own personal development. Specifically, for the strong sense of community of the school, that has been both welcoming and warm, I have always felt valued and respected which has been very rewarding and motivating over the years.

I have been very proud of the academic and sporting achievements that were made possible for me by the school over the years.  For example, from Years 7 to 9 I was able to be part of the football team.  Due to our success in early knockout rounds of Year 7 we made it to the final where we were lucky enough to be able to play at Chorley FC’s stadium.  Even though we did not win, it was still a great experience and a memory I will always have.  My faith in God has allowed me to always follow the school’s mission statement- Love God, Work Hard and Be Kind.  Through following this daily I have been able to develop different skills and attributes that will hopefully help me for the rest of my life.

I have been part of the Leadership Academy where I was able to travel to London and visit parliament and participate in a Q&A session with Sir Lindsay Hoyle.  This incredible opportunity has allowed me to strengthen core skills like confidence and communication.  It also made me think about the impact people can have in their roles and how they can be a force for good.  It made me reflect on impact I want to have on the school.  I am thankful for the opportunity to be Head Boy for the 2025/26 academic year and I am looking forward to maintaining the welcoming environment I first walked into.  I hope I can be a help and support to all the pupils in the school and set a good example of a pupil who has benefitted so much from our school.
