“But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Jesus taught about charity through his actions and words, emphasising the importance of giving to the poor and those most in need, doing so without seeking recognition, and understanding that true charity comes from the heart.

Good Shepherd Fund

good-sheppardThe Nugent Good Shepherd appeal is one of the oldest charity appeals in the UK.  Built on the foundation of children helping children, for over a hundred years, generations of schoolchildren from all over the archdiocese have raised millions of pounds.  This enables Nugent to help thousands of children and young people, offering personalised support, empowering people to lead fulfilling lives and strengthening community bonds.  By providing support for a diverse range of needs, when and where they are needed, Nugent creates an environment where everyone can thrive, regardless of their circumstances.

‘I am the good shepherd … I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.’
