New Intake 2021

Welcome Year 6!

Throughout the school year, we will be adding activities and resources to this page to give you a better idea of what life is like at Holy Cross, so keep checking back for updates.

On this page, you can expect to find many resources, including: virtual lessons to help give you an idea of what you will learn in your first year with us; messages from our staff and pupils; a Transition booklet full of activities from each curriculum area and handy guides and tips to help you to prepare for September.

We hope that you enjoy what we have here and that you will get involved. You can send your work and photos/videos to newintake21@holycross.lancs.sch.uk.  We will use these to make a fantastic display for when you start in September and we will share them on our school Twitter page.

We look forward to meeting you in September.

Book Competition

Year 5 and 6 pupils were set a challenge to tell us about their favourite book and to design an original book cover for it.  Here are just a few examples of the many excellent entries we received.  We are so impressed with how creative the book cover designs are and it is great to see how passionate you are about your favourite books. Well done to everybody who entered!

The winner of the competition was Barnaby from Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School! Barnaby submitted this outstanding original book cover design for Wonder by R.J. Palacio along with five reasons why we should read this book. We were so impressed with Barnaby’s idea to include quotes on his book cover and we thought his five reasons to read were very insightful. Congratulations Barnaby!
