It’s GOLD for PE department

19 January 2018

Holy Cross’s PE department has been awarded the GOLD School Games Mark.
The School Games Mark is a government-led scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.

Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress.

Each School Games Mark application is divided into four covering: Participation, Competition, Workforce and Clubs.

“At Holy Cross we have a high level of participation in sport, we enter competitions on a district, regional and national basis and have a wide range of sports available for all pupils,” said Head of PE Mr Ryder.

“Our pupils are involved in sports leadership opportunities, running primary school competitions at Holy Cross among other events

“We also have a wide range of clubs on offer to all pupils and compete in everything from inter-tutor competitions to representing Chorley at the Lancashire Youth Games in Blackpool. We have also just won the Chorley Schools Swimming Gala.

“We are delighted to be awarded the Gold Mark, it’s testament to the dedicated staff we have here who are willing to go that extra mile for pupils and put in additional hours to make sure there are plenty of opportunities for pupils and it’s also testament to the pupils at Holy Cross who seize these opportunities available.”
