The school is seeking to appoint a skilled, enthusiastic and motivated HLTA to assist the SENDCO in the day-to-day management of the Learning Support department and to deputise for the SENDCO, when appropriate.

The school is seeking to appoint a skilled, enthusiastic and motivated teaching assistant to work with a Year 10 pupil with a Visual Impairment and who is registered blind.

  • Required from: September 2020 for two years, or before if the pupil leaves before the end of Year 11
  • Salary: Grade 7 19-25 £25,295-£29,361 pro rata
  • Essential Qualifications: GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, minimum Level 2 Braille
  • Desirable Qualifications: GCSE French, A’Levels (or equivalent)
  • Essential Experience:
    • Experience of working with, or caring for, children with VI
    • Experience of using specialist Braille equipment and specialist ICT equipment for VI
    • Experience of mobility support for pupils with VI
  • Desirable Experience:
    • An understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and experience of working with children with SEND
    • Experience of supporting VI pupils through GCSEs and an understanding of relevant exam concessions for pupils with VI
    • Willingness to provide training for staff
